Michael Vick Indicted
Michael Vick, quarterback of the Atlanta Falcons football team, was indicted Tuesday by a federal grand jury on charges related to illegal dogfighting. Vick and Purnell A. Peace, Quanis L. Phillips and Tony Taylor, are charged with competitive dogfighting, procuring and training pit bulls for fighting and conducting the criminal enterprise across state lines. The dogs were housed, trained and fought at a Surry County, Va., property owned by Vick. Vick and the others could face up to six years in prison, and $350,000 in fines.
Vick, early on in the investigation said he had no idea his property might have been used for criminal activities and blamed family members for taking advantage of his generosity.
He has refused to talk about the investigation since it started.
